Ultracello is the extraordinary symbiosis of the finest spheres of the Magdeburg electric cellist, sound artist and street musician Matthias Marggraff and his violoncello made of carbon material plus loop station and all kinds of effects devices. Since 2011, the musician has been leading his listeners live through deep drones of vast deserts with his string instrument, either a laptop or loop station and numerous electronic devices, conjuring up broad ambient areas of alien worlds, creating audible industrial wasteland, percussive elements and fascinating underwater worlds.

The sound spheres, as if from another world, stray between film music and psychedelic dub – sometimes progressively driving, then again melancholically drifting through the ether – offer a versatile program for a special audience and yet the range of its listeners is extraordinarily broad.
