Art in architecture

New foundation building Elsterwerkstätten Herzberg 2017

Art in buildings deals with the location and space, content and function of the building task. Art can underline a building or react to it, promote acceptance and identification, create publicity and give locations an additional profile.

about Chris Hinze

Born in 1969 in Cottbus. Chris Hinze approached the visual arts as an autodidact and has been working as a freelance artist since 1992. In 1983 he and his friends founded the band Sandow, which has combined music and staging since its inception. In 2007, Chris Hinze and five other artists from Brandenburg were selected by the Batuz Foundation for a work residency in Montevideo (Uruguay), which culminated in an exhibition in the Cabildo, the old town hall in Montevideo. On site, he spontaneously used a chainsaw to saw a five-meter-long boat out of a fallen elm tree, with a ferryman on the bow and a couple in love on the stern.

In September 2009, he founded the house of art Sans titre in Potsdam together with Mikos Meininger, which stands for sophisticated exhibitions of national and international artists in the field of contemporary art. Chris Hinze was on the board of the association until 2017. Since 2017 he has been working on the premises of the brick factory in Glindow. The artist wants to give free rein to his creativity in peace and quiet in the countryside. His areas of work are diverse and range from sculpture and installation to graphics and painting to performance art.
