Paolo Cantù MAKHNO

Paolo Cantù draws on his past and present experiences, which include projects such as Tasaday, A Short Apnea, Uncode Duello, Makhno, film soundtracks and much more.

He extracts elements and sounds from all these experiences and mixes composed themes and improvisations to take a journey into the past with guitar, clarinet, trumpet, synthesizer, loops and electronics, which he projects into the future.

Makhno is the one-man project of Paolo Cantù, a self-taught musician from Milano who plays guitar and whatever else he can get his hands on. He started playing as a member of the experimental band Tasaday, then he was one of the founders of the rock band Afterhours from '86 to '90 and in '92 in the groundbreaking Six Minute War Madness.

In the same years he founded the band A Short Apnea, another piece of history of the Italian underground scene. He continued playing with Tasaday in their '00 Renaissance and in various side projects such as Four Gardens in One, End of Summer, Damo Suzuki's Network and EAReNOW and finally with the Duo-Project with Xabier Iriondo, Uncode Duello.
